A few days ago I went to downtown Los Angeles with my friends Josh and Julie. We took the metro, which I had never been on before.
First we stopped in Pasadena and explored around.
Josh became king of the goat. The vibe in Pasadena is great, it's fun, but not too crazy so it still has a small town feeling. It's clean, and there's lots to do and you can walk around very easily.
As we moved on to Untion Station in Los Angeles, getting off the train Josh said something looked weird. As we walked towards Famima, we saw that the station was totally dark inside. A security person told us the power was out, so we didn't hesitate to use the opportunity for photos.
The first photo in this post was my favorite shot from the blacked-out station. It is unedited, and we accomplished the visual with two off-camera Speedlites being held by Julie and Josh with PocketWizards attached to them. The effect is beautiful, and I'm so glad I was able to be there for such a rare occurrence in a lovely old station.
Our last stop was Grand Park where we used our light technique in front of the memorial fountain.
Also an unedited shot.
