I'm on the fifth day of my trip, and I am still loving it here. I've met some really cool people and we had a little photoshoot.
I'm cycling a lot while I'm here. There is a river that runs for miles and paths along the whole thing, so it's a good way to ride and not get lost.
While I was riding two days ago I went under a low branch and it snagged my knife and pulled it off my pack. I stopped to look for it, but it disappeared into the vines. If you know how great KABARs are you'll understand why I was on my hands and knees digging around for it for over a half an hour. An older couple stopped on the path and asked me what I had lost, and they helped me look for a while. They asked if I was Canadian. I've gotten that a few times here, I don't think we sound alike at all haha. The man told me that if he ever found it while he was walking on the trail that he would hide it under the trunk of the nearest tree for me, I thanked them and they left. About five minutes after they walked off I was about to give up, but then I found it...
... Point up. I'm glad one of them didn't find it that way! I left them a message so they wouldn't dig around for it when I had already found it.
Yesterday I went to the Healsville Sanctuary Zoo. I finally got to see Australian animals! First was the dingo, and now I wish I could own one.
This frog found a comfy place to sit.
This emu gave me an evil stare and growled at me. So of course as soon as it turned around I reached over the fence and touched it.
These plants are called Kangaroo Hands.
I think eucalyptus leaves are kind of like marijuana to koalas because they all looked pretty faded.
This won't be the last zoo I see while I'm here. I also pet a wallaby, but didn't get a photo. They are very friendly and used to people.
The part of Victoria that I'm in has a really great asian district with good food shops. Wanda showed me how to make spring rolls, and I made these all by myself!
More to come :)
